Design Services for Cape Cod Homeowners
On Cape Kitchens has been designing kitchens and baths for Cape Cod homeowners for more than 30 years. Our design office and showroom at 4250 State Highway in North Eastham sits at the center of the Lower and Outer Cape, and we work from Provincetown south through Harwich and Chatham. Owner and designer Vern Hatt draws the plans, specifies the cabinetry, and stays with the project through installation, so the design you approve is the design that actually gets built.
Cape Cod houses ask design questions that inland houses do not. Salt air is hard on hinges, slides, and painted finishes. A large share of homes here are seasonal cottages that have been winterized over the years, which means additions, low ceilings, and framing that rarely lines up the way a plan set assumes. Story-and-a-half Capes give you sloped ceilings on the second floor. Septic capacity governs how freely you can move plumbing or add a bathroom. Historic districts along Route 6A and in Provincetown, Chatham, and Wellfleet govern what changes can look like from the street.
We design with those constraints in front of us instead of discovering them at the permit counter. Every project starts with a measured survey and a conversation about how you actually cook, store, and entertain, then moves to a scaled floor plan, elevations, and 3D renderings you can walk through before a single cabinet is ordered.
